I'm a new runner period, this is my first year running. I ran Cross Country this season, and it was fun yet hard and all that stuff. Now, I want to do indoor track, but I don't know which event I should do. When I run long distance it's more... fufilling to ME. But, then again C.C. was stressful for me. So, I don't know if I want to do like the 1600, the 300, or try something really different like the long jump. Which would you recommend to someone who ran Cross Country, and was OK, and is kind of new at all of this...

I ran XC this year too. I grew up running sprints so XC was extremely hard for me, and i got bad times around 26:55. When you try track, u might want to experiment. Try everything u can, and stick with the one that fits you best.
Try first with the longer distances b/c ur use to them, and they will come easyest to you.

Well if your not sure about your event, try a lot of them. Plus, your coaches should help you find what is the best event for you. If you like long distance more, but you are intrested in sprints, why not meet in the middle and do some middle distance. 500's, 800's and even the mile are good events to try.

I'm a 1600 and 800 runner, as well as XC in the fall. One of the biggest issues I had w/ indoor track is that the air is warm and gets very stufy when a meet is happening. Also, if you are farmiliar with running on an outdoor track, you may feel like you are running farther on an indoor track because of the nearly doubled lap count. For these reasons I like to stick with the 800 or even a 4by400 relay. Also, if you are running highschool, the indoor season tends to be kind of informal. So this would be a good time to experiment.
