hey everyone.
It's been a while... I took some time off running, but when they changed the LA marathon route, I couldnt resist running it. So, Ive been trying to train, mostly just to finish -- no time goals on this one (at least none that I'll be disappointed if I dont hit).
Anyway, here's the problem: a few weeks ago I started getting a pretty strong pain in the outside portion of both knees, though mainly on my left side.
There isnt any visible swelling, and it only hurts when I run. If I stop and walk, the pain goes away.
After my runs, my knee is sore for a day or two.
I did some research, and it sounds like it might be Iliotibial band syndrome (
http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_5 ... iliotibial). They say to stretch and not run.
Any advice on how to proceed? I've been stretching and trying not to run as much, but with the marathon a little over a month away, I dont want to completely stop. What should I do?
thanks
