I have been training for a marathon since December. This weekend we completed a 19 mile training run, and I had planned on doing 20 next weekend. The marathon is on May 3rd. I had been experiencing stomach pains all last week, with especially painful burning sensations after the long run, and decided to go to the doctor. I was diagnosed with a stomach ulcer and put on Nexium. So the race is a little under three weeks away and the doctor told me that there was no way that I would be able to run the race. Is this true? I will have finished my medicine by then!!! Has anyone heard of people running with peptic ulcers?
Utterly disapointed...

I am very sure you will not stop training totally despite your stomach ulcers. Watch out for signs that you are healing and judge for yourself if you are capable of completing the marathon without any ill effects on your health. Nevertheless, it is better to lay off this one if possible, you live to fight another day. Take care.
