I am training for the San Diego Rock n Roll marathon on May 31. Unfortunately I have IT band syndrome that hit me last week during a half marathon. If I take time off I more than likely won't be able to run the marathon in May. How long do I have to take off if any and what can I do to get back to training? I took five days off and ran 3 miles yesterday and it was sore but not painful. I ran today and it was painful. Any suggestions?

Stretch stretch stretch...I went through IT issues last fall. Many good IT stretches on-line. I also got a foam roller and worked the entire length of the band, it does wonders. Good luck!
