I hope someone can help me! I am training for my first marathon (April) and I'm not sure what to do about my poor calf. I'm half way through my 16 week training program. Last week I had a 6 mile tempo run, a 20 mile long run(have slowly been building to this...last week I ran 18 1/2 miler), and 2 easy 3 milers. on my 20 miler, at about mile 3, my left calf started hurting (lower calf, on the outside of my leg) and hurt the rest of the run. I iced it for 2 days and rested it,and itf elt al ot better. Yesterday I ran a 3 miler and it was okay until about mile 1.5, and then it didn't really hurt, but was just nagging a bit. Today I ran a 7 miler and it hurt again around mile 2. How should I treat this without messing up my training and without further injury? I want to just run through the pain, but I know in the long run (pardon the pun!) that I need to take it easy now to prevent a more serious injury. This week is a low mileage week with only 2 7 milers and 3 3 milers, but next week my long run is 16miles. What should I do?! Please help me!
