Hello,

I am new to these forums and have been browsing around. I am thinking of running either the triple in Tahoe this September or possibly the 72 miler. I have about 10 marathons under my belt as well as a 50 miler and some 50k's.

Would you think the 72 miler would be much different than the triple? How would the training differ? Would walk breaks be necessary in the triple?

How would nutrition differ between the two? I read in one of your posts from a long time ago that you mentioned something about training on your long runs without gel so your body can use fat as the primary source of energy. I haven't heard that before and wanted to know more of your thoughts on that. I thought waiting until the marathon you would be taking a risk of having it upset your stomach, etc.
