Hi all!
I'm a collegiate female runner who races mostly middle distances, yet has a primarily distance based training plan. My weekly mileage typically falls somewhere between 40-50miles. Most of my runs are around or a little under 8min pace. At 5'7" and 150 lbs, I'm really looking to drop some weight...I've been trying to put together a diet plan that can put me on track to lose 2 lbs a week while still giving me enough energy to train and compete at a high level. This is what I was planning on eating on a typical day:

breakfast - yogurt and fruit
lunch - bagel with peanut butter (on workout days) or wheat wrap with hummus and vegetables (on regular run days)
dinner - salad with rice and chicken
tea for dessert

Any suggestions or comments would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! :)

I know you are not going to like my answer but here it is...

First of all why do you want to lose weight? Your height and weight seem healthy for an athletic female. Have you had your body fat tested? I am sure you are already aware that muscle weighs more than fat.

Are you comparing yourself to your peers? If so, please keep in mind that most women lie about their weight and probably weigh 5-10lbs more then they say they do. Are the women you're comparing yourself to healthy and/or athletic? It is your choice, you can live on tea and celery and and live a sedentary life as a very thin person or you can eat a healthy balanced diet that feeds your running and helps you improve.

I am not sure how many miles you are putting in but I know on my light weeks of 25 miles, I would be ravenous and sick if I had to live on the menu you suggested. Where are your veggies young lady?

I understand your desire to lose weight but I am sure you look great and are healthy just as you are. Good Luck!

hey lady, mid distance is great. what are you doing besides. running? rest rehydration are huge part of balancing the body. eat a balanced meal three to five times per day. check out dr. schwarzbien's principle I,II, or III they are books. you need to eat to loose and to be healthy. a balanced meal is protein, fat carb fruit, starch in balanced amounts do not eat fruit on an empty stomach. peace
