I have 11-1/2 weeks before my first marathon. After finding out about Hal Higdon's Marathon Training Guide I looked at the website. I want to give my training more structure and this seems like a proven method. I would be using the Novice 1 program. From my regular running during the past year it looks like I can readily jump into the program at week 8 without too much stress and stay with it until race day.
1. Does this seem reasonable?
2. Anyone else done something similar?
3. If so, what was your experience?
Thanks, Georgeandpat.

If you've been running 25 or so miles per week for a while and your long runs are around what they are in week 8, you should be fine phasing in without an issue.
